A Symphony of Flavors and Aromas
One of the first things you’ll notice about our 2021 Mourvèdre is its deep, alluring purple color that hints at the rich flavors to come. As you raise the glass to your nose, a symphony of aromas is released – dark fruits, violets, and a subtle hint of black pepper. It’s a sensory journey that begins before you even take your first sip.
On the palate, this wine truly comes alive. It’s full-bodied and vibrant, with bold flavors of black currant and raspberry dancing on your taste buds. The gentle undercurrent of spice adds a layer of complexity that keeps you coming back for more. It’s a wine that demands your attention and rewards it generously.
The Journey from Vine to Bottle
The journey of our 2021 Mourvèdre begins in the heart of Texas, in the renowned Texas High Plains Appellation. The grapes were carefully harvested on September 29, 2021, capturing the essence of that year’s growing season.
But what truly sets this wine apart is the meticulous craftsmanship that went into its production. Toasted oak chips were incorporated during primary fermentation, imparting a subtle note of oak and vanilla to the wine’s profile. Following this, the wine was barrel-aged for eight months in a harmonious blend of European Oak and American Oak barrels, allowing it to mature and develop its exceptional character.
A Delight for the Senses
The sensory journey of our 2021 Mourvèdre continues as you explore its depths. On the nose, in addition to the initial dark fruit and floral notes, you’ll discover a hint of black pepper, adding a touch of intrigue to the bouquet. As the wine dances across your palate, it reveals notes of raspberry, melon, and plum, creating a harmonious ensemble of flavors.
The structure of this wine is impressive. It’s full-bodied with bold tannins that provide a solid backbone, medium-plus acidity that keeps it fresh and lively, and a long, smooth finish that leaves a lasting impression. This is a wine that’s meant to be savored, contemplated, and shared with those who appreciate the finer things in life.
The Perfect Pairing
Mourvèdre, pronounced “mor-veh-druh,” brings to mind characteristics of Cabernets and Syrahs. It’s a spirited, full-bodied dry red with intense aromas and a robust flavor profile. This wine is the ideal companion for rich and hearty dishes. Consider pairing it with beef, pork shoulder, wild game, or grilled mushrooms. Its bold tannins and complex flavors will beautifully complement these savory dishes, creating a culinary symphony on your palate.
